Dennis King, Lead Pastor

ReyNaz's Lead Pastor, Dennis King, has served in ministry, leading churches from New York to Ohio, for over 30 years. Pastor Dennis and his wife Cheryl both grew up in Reynoldsburg, OH. He enjoys music, reading, running, hiking, writing and any sport involving the Ohio State Buckeyes! His passion is to see people become fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Prior to coming to ReyNaz, Pastor Dennis pastored Nazarene churches in Potsdam, New York, Urbana, Ohio, and Owego, New York. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University, a Master's degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Favorite color: Blue (the color of my sweetheart’s eyes)

Favorite holiday: Easter! I get to announce the greatest news in the history of this planet: Christ is risen!

What would you want your last meal to be? Pizza

Cheryl King, Children's Minister

ReyNaz’s Children’s Minister, Cheryl King, continues to serve alongside Dennis using her wonderful gifts for teaching children the truth of Jesus. Dennis and Cheryl are high school sweet-hearts and have been married for 37 years! They have three sons: Matthew (married to Elenie and currently a grad student at Ohio State), Jonathan (a musician living in Washington D.C.), and Stephen (married to Emma and living in Hilliard). They are also the proud grandparents of Stephen and Emma’s children, Hadley and Hudson. Cheryl says she loves her job because children are honest and trusting and want to learn. She loves getting to speak God's truth into their lives.

Favorite dessert: Chewy brownies with chocolate icing and nuts

Denae Lawrence, Worship Minister

ReyNaz’s Worship Minister, Denae Lawrence, has been singing and leading people in worship since high school. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Worship from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She loves her job at ReyNaz because she loves helping people discover the sweet, beautiful presence of God. Denae’s creativity and passion for music shine through every service she leads!

Favorite candy: Candy? Beef jerky is where it’s at!

Favorite season: Fall! Beautiful, great temperature, and my birthday!

Random fact? I am one of 10 kids and I love my family!

Jawn Virden, Youth Pastor

ReyNaz’s Youth Pastor, Jawn Virden, has a Bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Jawn also grew up in the Reynoldsburg area and attended ReyNaz as a young person. Jawn joined the ReyNaz staff in early 2016 and brings an insane amount of energy to the youth program. He and his wife Michaela live in Columbus and are the proud parents of a beautiful little girl. 

Jawn is passionate about seeing teens grow in their spiritual lives. He thinks that every young person is capable of learning deep truths and desires to find new ways to teach and share these truths.

Susan Armstrong, Associate Pastor

Pastor Susan served in Nazarene churches in Idaho, Ohio, and Illinois before joining the staff at Reynaz. She was a worship pastor for 16 years but is excited about her new role as Pastor of Care and Discipleship (along with directing the choir). She is a preacher and teacher and is passionate about helping people grow in their walk with the Lord. She loves to minister one-on-one and has significant experience in pastoral care and counseling.

Pastor Susan taught music at the university level for many years before answering a call to pastoral ministry. She has a bachelors degree from Point Loma Nazarene University, masters degrees from The University of Oklahoma and Nazarene Theological Seminary, and a doctor of music degree from The University of Oklahoma. She enjoys teaching voice one day a week at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
